Well our little break

Nazareth does not do a full week of Spring break. Usually we just get the Friday and Monday off of the state boy's tourney. This year we also got Tuesday off. We got the dining room redone and had lots of fun playing. So what did you do for Spring Break?

Cow patty dodgeball

You know the game you all loved as a kid but as an adult you hate. Dodgeball is way more fun when you use dried up cow patties as the ball.

Family time- country style

We worked cows sunday and it ended up being more of a photo shoot for the kids than actually working but it was way fun.

Does FT. Worth ever cross your mind?

Well Ft. worth stock show was a success. Everyone did well. Brett got a 2nd and showed awesome. The judge said he did a great job showing and would have lots of fun on down the road with this heifer. The boys and I went to the zoo on Saturday and had a great time. It was 68 degrees and sunny. We picked the best possible day to go to the zoo. We definetly got our exercise while we were down there. I will have pictures posted soon after we all thaw out. It was -2 degrees this morning when we left for school.

Wow it is a new year

The holidays flew by and Janaury is almost over, that can only mean one thing. Ft. Worth stock is the place to be. The Shorthorn show is on Sunday along with the Shorthorn Plus show. By the way the cutest young man will be showing in the Shorthorn Plus show with the best heifer ever. Good luck Brett and Swifty!!! The other two heifers from our house went to the farm to live. The boys have already had to go visit them at the farm, I haven't told the boys but I miss them too.

roll recipe from PW

I made no less than a 100 on these during the holiday season. These remind me of Nana and her parkerhouse rolls she used to make.
This recipe is also used for PW's cinnamon roll recipe.

Prep Time: 3 Hours | Cook Time: 15 Minutes | Difficulty: Intermediate | Servings: 36

Ingredients
■4 cups Whole Milk
■2 sticks 1 Cup Butter
■1 cup Sugar
■4-½ teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
■8 cups All-purpose Flour
■1 teaspoon (heaping) Baking Powder
■1 teaspoon (scant) Baking Soda
■1 Tablespoon (heaping) Salt
■1 cup (additional) All-purpose Flour
■2 sticks Melted Butter (additional)
Preparation Instructions
Combine 4 cups milk, 2 sticks butter, and sugar in a large pot. Bring to a simmer, and when the mixture is hot (but not boiling) turn off heat and allow to cool to warmer than lukewarm, about 30 to 45 minutes.

Sprinkle in the yeast and 8 cups of flour. Stir to combine, then cover and allow to rise for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, add baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 additional cup of flour. Stir to combine. Divide dough in half, then turn out onto floured surface. Knead dough for 8 to 10 minutes, then form into a ball and cover with a towel and allow to rise in a warm place. for 30 to 45 minutes. (Repeat with other half of dough, or store it for a later use.)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Melt 2 sticks of butter in a saucepan.

Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut circles with a 2 1/2 inch cutter. Dunk each circle in melted butter, then immediately fold in half and place on a cookie sheet, flat side down. Press lightly to encourage sealing. Repeat with the rest of the dough. Cover with a towel and allow rolls to rise 30 to 45 minutes.

Bake for 15 minutes. Remove and serve immediately.

Wow it is a new year

I cannot believe Christmas has come and gone and we are in the middle of stock shows. We leave in 2 weeks for the Ft. Worth stock show where Brett will show against the big guys. We had a great break and got to see alot of family. Uncle Stanley, you will be happy to know the boys have saved their money for bigger things. Wolf- the boys love their new ping pong table and I think it makes a great place to fold laundry. You made all of us happy with that gift. If we didn't get to see you over the holidays, we hope to see you this year. Call or come by anytime.
